10 Diet Tips to Start 2010 Off Right!

1) Painlessly lose 10 pounds this year — just leave 4 bites behind at one meal each day.

2) Drink a cup of tea before meals to prevent overeating. Tea contains the amino acid theanine which alters brain chemistry to create a calm, mental alertness which will help fight stress cravings and binges.

3) Keep pre-cut veggies in the front of your fridge. They’ll be the first thing you see and grab when you’re hungry.

4) Only eat while sitting down to a carefully portioned plate. This will slash those calories mindlessly consumed while munching when watching TV, cooking or deciding what to eat.

5) Swap the half and half in your coffee for skim milk or 1% milk and it will save you 6 pounds this year.

6) Toss your morning deli bagel and have two slices of whole wheat bread instead. You’ll save more than 15.5 pounds a year!

7) Walk ten minutes out your front door and turn and then come home. You’ll burn about 160 calories. Do this daily and it’s more than 16.5 pounds over the year.

8) Choose light beer instead of the regular version. If you typically have two beers a week you’ll save 1.5 pounds per year. And choose wine (5 ounces) over mixed drinks. Making this swap 2 times a week will save you six pounds per year.

9) Most muffins are calorie and fat traps. Avoid that banana and walnut muffin (600 calories and 30 grams of fat!). Choose a banana and whole wheat English muffin instead and save 300 calories. Do this once every two weeks and save over two pounds per year.

10)Relax!. Stress will make you eat more, and it has other unhealthy side effects. Take a few deep breaths every morning and let out any stress you may have.
