Afternoon Energy Boost

Hi Glenny’s,

I usually get very tired in the middle of the afternoon. To keep up, I drink coffee sometimes but it doesn’t really energize me enough. In fact, I often feel a bit more tired soon afterwards. I don’t want to start with these Red Bull type of energy drinks, given the high sugar level. Does anyone have any ideas for me for a good mid-afternoon energy boost? Thanks.

Mary

Good question, I don’t have any drink favorites for energy, a light snack (my fav are a bag of soy crisps) usually helps me.

Fresh fruit is good too! Or a tablespoon or nuts. If you can get away from your desk for a few minutes and take a quick walk.

Enviga (the green tea drink) and its ONLY 5 calories per serving. All three flavors taste great: Peach, Berry, and Original. Hope it gives u some energy!

I usually drink some water because I get tired when I am dehydrated. If I still feel hungry I reach for a bag of soy crisps or fruit.

I’ve got the same problem, sometimes I fall asleep.

My natural-path suggested snacking on nuts and things high in protein throughout the afternoon, mostly before the time I usually get sleepy.

Fruit is good but it will heighten the blood sugars, then you’ll crash again once the sugar wears off.

Unsalted nuts have become my best friend and protein during lunch (lean meats or eggs) help.

    It has worked really well.

A protein bar or shake with help with the sluggish & sleepy feeling. Be sure to include water (add a powdered protein packet) to help with hydration.

I enjoy having a Back To Nature energy bar. It does not have any High fructose corn syrup, trans fat or soy. Very natural and the right amount of sweetness from cane sugar.

A wonderful discovery I made was sublingual B-12 tablets. I take one every morning, and if I find myself losing energy as the day progresses, I take another. More of the vitamin gets into your system than if you take the tablets.

Try a tablespoon of natural peanut butter on a peanut butter flavored rice cake, its great, filling and only 3 pt. snack on Weight Watchers.

Got something to say?
