Cheese on a Diet?
Dear Glenny’s,
I love cheese, but can it fit into my weight loss program? I want to use fat-free cheese whenever possible, but I don’t like the taste of it. Do you have any advice? Also, what are the health benefits of cheese? Thanks.
Carol

Got something to say?

Cheese is a wonderful source of protein, calcium and phosphorus, but it’s also a major source of saturated fat. Most popular hard cheeses (Cheddar, Swiss, Colby, Monterey Jack) have 8-9 grams of fat and 100-110 calories per one ounce serving.
But don’t give up hope, you can still eat cheese on a healthy diet. A number of common cheeses are widely available in reduced-fat form, including Cheddar, Monterey Jack, mozzarella, Brie, Swiss, Colby, Muenster and American.
My favorite option for lighter cheese is the Laughing Cow Light Cheese Wedges. These are hands down the best low-cal cheese spread option. They’re super-rich and delicious and come in three fabulous flavors (Original Swiss, Garlic & Herb, and French Onion).
I agree, the laughing cow cheese is delicious!
I am currently on the no carb plan. So the regular cheeses have fewer carbs than the lowfat ones. I find that my cholesterol goes down with this plan. The doctor says as the fat drains from the body, it exits the arteries too.
I would love to have a list of the products you sell that would have few or no carbs. I am especially interested in salty treats and of course sweet treats. Thank you.
Have you tried almond cheese ? It’s low carb, low calorie, and good protein with the benefits of almonds
