Eat Socially…And Reap the Benefits!
There are, it seems, about a zillion tips and tricks for dieting for maximum nutritional value and satisfaction (while still dropping pounds). One aspect of dietary wellness that often isn’t approached is how much more enjoyment is added to a meal, a snack or a favorite treat simply by sharing it with someone you care about or enjoy being around.
Think about it: you’re much more likely to model good eating habits if you’re noshing with a group of friends or your family versus while zoning out in front of the television or computer screen. The social element detracts from the “mindless eating” that happens so easily when our attentions aren’t focused on what we’re actually doing: nourishing ourselves.
So give it a shot: invite a colleague out for lunch (or in for a brown-bag day), get the family together for weeknight dinners, create healthy breakfast concoctions for your sweetie and savor your excellent company while savoring your excellent meal. Bon appetit!
