Faves: What, When & Why

When it comes to snacking, we’ve all got our faves: for mid-morning, for before dinner, for late at night, for when you just need calories, and quickly. Here are some of mine:

After my morning run: Lovin’ my glass of skim chocolate milk and my Glenny’s Nut Bar, from the Fruit & Nut Energy Bars lineup. Chocolate skim milk is a great post-workout snack and my Nut Bar amps up the protein to replenish my muscles. Mmm, mmm, so good.

Midmorning: I sneak away from my desk and pop open a bag of Salt & Pepper Soy Crisps. This light-and-crispy, and easy to consume quickly, snack has become a staple that staves off my grumbling tummy and keeps me sated ‘til lunchtime.

Midafternoon Bonk: About an hour after lunch I crash BADLY, so I really need something to wake me up a bit. Glenny’s Multigrain Drizzle Crisps (LOVE the milk chocolate ones) usually do the trick with just enough sweetness to pep me up and wholesome whole grains to tide me over until dinnertime.

After an afternoon run: If I didn’t go in the morning, I have to go in the afternoon: those are the rules. I make it my goal to get home in time to enjoy a snack before dinner, and have what I’ve come to call a “half n half”: half a package of Glenny’s BBQ Soy Crisps dipped into half a container of Oikos Plain Greek Yogurt. The spicy, toasty flavor of the chips along with the zip and tang of the cold Greek yogurt play off each other so well, I sometimes even forget about dinner. (For maybe an hour. At max. I’m the kinda gal who wants to eat about sixteen times a day.)

Late Night: When I’m burning the midnight oil and would eat just about anything—and have proven this, as my refrigerator looks like it got hit by a battering ram after one of my late-night snack attacks—I keep the fridge closed and enjoy a Cranberry & Almond Bar instead. I love the flavor, it has just enough calories to keep me going and no refined sugars to keep me wide awake afterwards, when I need to hit the hay and get to sleep fast. These bars never let me down.

    Thank you for the info. I have been changing my eating habits into more healthy choices., and changing what I snacked on, was part of the deal. So you have given me more snacks for thought to add to my other healthy snacks. i have only tried the fruit & nut and the cranberry bars. Oh my goodness, they are soooooooooo good. I have lost 31 pounds so far! i thank God for Glenny's. They are way better than candy bars and more healthier :)
