Cure Food Cravings

Hi there Glenny’s Fans,
Food cravings are the worst and sometimes I feel like the only way to kill them is to plunge into the ice cream. I’m wondering how others go about killing those dreaded cravings without blowing their diet. What, in your opinion, is the best way to instantly kill a food craving? Thanks! Cary

Good question. Cravings are difficult, but don’t deny them. Did you know that women who tried to stop thinking about chocolate ate 50% more than those who were encouraged to talk about their cravings? So what’s the best advice for curing a craving? For me it helps to write it down and acknowledge it. Then once in a while, I’ll indulge a bit. Moderation is the key to success, in my opinion.

If you skip meals (eg. breakfast) or go too long without eating, your blood sugar levels will fall too low, which is a perfect recipe for food cravings, overeating and even binges. Allowing 3 hours between meals/snacks is a sensible maximum. And you don’t need to eat much: even a single snack can be enough between meals to keep eating urges at bay. As well as maintaining stable blood glucose levels, regular eating helps your metabolism to burn calories at an efficient rate. Finally, studies show that regular eating helps to reduce cravings associated with Pre-Menstrual Syndrome (PMS).

Got something to say?
