Peanut Butter on a Diet?
Hi Fellow Glenny’s Fans,
Well, here’s the deal: I love peanut butter. Is this OK to eat when I’m on a diet? Do I need to stop eating peanut butter now that I’m trying to lose weight? Please help! Thanks.

Got something to say?

You don’t need to stop eating peanut butter on a diet, in fact research has shown that snacking on peanut butter is an effective way to control hunger without weight gain, because peanut butter is tops for giving us a feeling of satiety (fullness). Basically, treating ourselves peanut butter, in moderation of course, can prevent over-eating, which will in turn help us manage our weight!
A Purdue University study published in the International Journal of Obesity showed subjects who snacked on peanuts and peanut butter reduced their hunger for two and a half hours!
And if you can believe it there is actually a book called the “The Peanut Butter Diet”. You can find it on Amazon.com. I saw this in the description: “You can eat Peanut Butter every day and still lose weight! Many health-conscious dieters have shied away from this tempting treat, but new studies show that peanut butter can actually lower your risk for heart disease and diabetes and help you shed unwanted pounds.”
Here is the link to the book: http://www.amazon.com/Peanut-Butter-Diet-Holly-McCord/dp/0312982240
I have already ordered several of your products and would like to know if any one product has the following:
lowest calories, lowest sugar, lowest fat, highest fiber, highest protein
I’ve ordered the Light N Crispy bars (yum, yum!!!!) and the Healthy Snack Bars (yum!)
There is also a lower calorie, lower fat version of Peanut Butter called Better n’ Peanut Butter on the east coast and Peanut Wonder on the west coast. What makes this Peanut Butter even more fabulous is the fact that it is all natural. It’s kinda hard to find because they only sell it in places like the Whole Foods Market and other high-quality health food stores. You should check out their website though because I know you can order it online(which is probably more convienent). Good Luck!
i also love peanut butter but i tend to get bloaded on it is there any reason 4 that
Peanut Butter can be an extremely healthy addition to your diet. One caveat: read your labels. Jif and Skippy both add sugar and other unnecessary ingredients. Look for Smucker’s all natural, which is just peanuts and salt, nothing else. Also, peanut butter can be high in calories and fat content so watch your servings.
Try mixing 1/3 cup peanut butter with 1 cup lite silken tofu in a food processor. sprinkle in cinnamon to taste. It is creamy and delicious on apples, celery, crackers, pretzels, rice cakes, etc. Plus, much lower in fat and calories than PB. Even if you think you don’t like tofu, try this!
And of course, keep in the fridge!
Bellplantation.com sells PB2. It is a powder defatted peanut butter that you reconstitute with water, jelly or honey. I use water and add a little splenda. It tastes no different than natural peanut butter and two tablespoons is only 3 or 4 grams of fat compared to regular peanut butter. I highly recommend it. It is all my children eat. Also being a weight watcher it helps me have as much peanut butter as I want without sacraficing points!
PB2 is the best. I use it all the time and love it!! I use it on toast, and try in recipes. Very Good!!!
You can get grind-it-yourself peanut butter at Wholefoods! They have salted, unsalted, and even almond butter! Not sure which is healthier though. You never have to worry about preservatives or added sugars!
Better Than Peanut is the BEST!!–Tastes great and spreads like fat peanut butter!!
PB2 is pretty good, especially in smoothies and baking mixes. Goto: www.BellPlantation.com PB2 is 75% less fat than Peanut Butter. It’s powdered and can be reconstituted with water to be like the real thing. I’ve mixed it with Strawberry preserves or mixed with Light Vanilla or Chocolate Ice Cream.
