Peanut butter makes a healthy addition to a healthy diet. Peanut butter as healthy fats, also known as monounsaturated fat. Good fats are vital for skin, nail, and hair health. An appropriate amount would be 1 tbsp. You can pair it up with apple slices, or a slice of whole grain toast for breakfast.

PB2 is pretty good, especially in smoothies and baking mixes. Goto: www.BellPlantation.com PB2 is 75% less fat than Peanut Butter. It's powdered and can be reconstituted with water to be like the real thing. I've mixed it with Strawberry preserves or mixed with Light Vanilla or Chocolate Ice Cream.

You can get grind-it-yourself peanut butter at Wholefoods! They have salted, unsalted, and even almond butter! Not sure which is healthier though. You never have to worry about preservatives or added sugars!

Bellplantation.com sells PB2. It is a powder defatted peanut butter that you reconstitute with water, jelly or honey. I use water and add a little splenda. It tastes no different than natural peanut butter and two tablespoons is only 3 or 4 grams of fat compared to regular peanut butter. I highly recommend it. It is all my children eat. Also being a weight watcher it helps me have as much peanut butter as I want without sacraficing points!

Try mixing 1/3 cup peanut butter with 1 cup lite silken tofu in a food processor. sprinkle in cinnamon to taste. It is creamy and delicious on apples, celery, crackers, pretzels, rice cakes, etc. Plus, much lower in fat and calories than PB. Even if you think you don't like tofu, try this!

And of course, keep in the fridge!

Peanut Butter can be an extremely healthy addition to your diet. One caveat: read your labels. Jif and Skippy both add sugar and other unnecessary ingredients. Look for Smucker's all natural, which is just peanuts and salt, nothing else. Also, peanut butter can be high in calories and fat content so watch your servings.
