Popcorn without Butter: Suggestions?
Dear Glenny’s,
I’m addicted to popcorn as a light snack. I’m wondering if your readers have some suggestions for diet-safe seasonings so I enjoy my popcorn without using butter? Thanks!

Got something to say?

Popcorn is a low-fat, whole-grain snack full of fiber. But, of course you need to really cut down on the butter to keep it healthy. Here is recipe for Rosemary Cheese Popcorn, a delicious alternative, which uses only a single tablespoon of butter to make the herbs and cheese stick. It’s only 38 calories per serving!
8 cups popped 94 percent fat-free microwave popcorn
1 tablespoon butter, melted
1 tablespoon chopped fresh rosemary or 1 1/2 teaspoons crushed dried rosemary
3 tablespoons shredded parmesan cheese
Combine all ingredients in a plastic 2-1/2-gallon zip-top plastic bag; shake vigorously to coat well. Makes 8 to 10 cups.

I am in love with Kernel Seasons, which are available in the popcorn section of some grocery stores, and also available (in much greater variety) on their website: http://www.kernelseasons.com. I especially love the Barbeque flavor — I put that on Jolly Time 100 calorie bags of popcorn (butter flavored), for a low-cal, high-fiber snack.
I do not work for either of these companies, nor do I derive any financial benefit for touting their products — I just like them a lot (as I do Glenny’s products — or else I wouldn’t be here on their website)!
Spray on a little extra-virgin olive oil (buying your own spray pump is worth it), add some ground pepper, and try some nutritional yeast powder for a cheesy flavor.
Cinnamon and Splenda!
Try “I Can’t Believe It’s not Butter” spray. You need very little and it has a real butter flavor.
