Too Much Too Soon?
Do you ever feel overwhelmed when you’re dieting? Obsessed with getting “the numbers” right? Disappointed when you break down, even if it’s just one cupcake at your daughter’s best-friend’s birthday party? You might be doing too much, too soon.
Dieting isn’t necessarily about changing your habits temporarily to get the weight off. A more complete diet plan involves changing your habits permanently, and recognizing why it’s a good idea to do so. Temporary change makes for temporary fixes. Permanent changes to your diet—saying no to soft drinks and yes to water, filling your rumbling belly with wholesome snacks like Glenny’s Fruit & Nut Energy Bars or tender, chewy 100 Calorie Brownies instead of calorie bombs like candy bars or greasy, fried chips—create permanent solutions. These are still big changes, though, so take them easy. Try to make one big change—like snack swapping or walking for 30 minutes, 4 to 5 times a week—and stick to it for two weeks. Feeling good? Try adding another one, and you’re well on your way to a healthier, happier you!
